QUANTUM OEM - Matlab/Simulink/PSAT

Quantum's Drive Group uses the Powertrain Simulation Analysis Toolkit (PSAT) developed by Argonne National Labs for powertrain performance and efficiency simulations. This powerful software tool has the ability to model the specific powertrain architecture and provides component models which can be populated with component characteristics. Using normal drive cycles, the simulation can provide outputs for all performance, electric range, and fuel economy.

Over the past several years, Quantum has developed elaborate component models for hybrid components including batteries and traction drives. These models coupled with the inherent flexibility of PSAT have allowed Quantum to become very efficient and accurate with powertrain simulation modeling. Quantum also has a SULEV emissions lab to further correlate the emissions and fuel economy estimates.

Based on the output of a PSAT simulation, Quantum will define all of the hardware components required for the specified powertrain. These components can include the electric drive system, battery pack sizes and performance expectations, along with generator output requirements. Quantum will then either select or begin development on the components to provide our customer with a complete powertrain solution. Quantum also utilizes Matlab and Simulink.
